Goalkeeper Robin Zentner extends on 1. FSV Mainz 05
"I can imagine very well to stay longer with Mainz 05," Robin Zentner had reaffirmed in the Mainz interview at the beginning of February. Now the 27-year-old nails made with heads: Zentner extended his originally until summer 2023 contract in Mainz prematurely at two years to summer 2025.
Apart from a two-year lending to Holstein Kiel (2015 to 2017), Zentner has been continuously for the Mainz for the Mainz since 2006, whose goal he hates in the home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday for the 104th time in the home game against Arminia Bielefeld.
"He's the figurehead of our outstanding goalkeeper training from the youth to the professionals," 05 sports director Martin Schmidt praised the final man in the Mainz enforcement message in the highest tones. "He has ever developed his goalkeeping game in recent years and is both athletic as well as a characteristic of all that, which mainly accounts for." With its "straightforward, responsible type" Zentner be "a real leader".
Of course, head coach Bo Svensson joins: "He is a secure restraint for our team and has a weighty share of our strong defensive performance and the few goals this season."
With only 30 counterparts, the Mainzer after 26 match days, together with RB Leipzig, the third best defense of the Bundesliga. Only Bayern Munich (28) and the SC Freiburg (29) conceded less. No goalkeeper often played zero as a zentner, who had to accept exactly like Koen Kastels (VfL Wolfsburg) and Mark Flekken (Sc Freiburg) in eight games no goal.
